As always, though, your mileage may vary based on a wide variety of factors. I love Blasphemous, and this seems like the perfect evolution of everything they’ve learned. I’m so glad to see Ninja Gaiden make a return with a developer who has a passion for this franchise. Endgame unleashes the largest and most fist-pumping, goosebump-causing, insanely destructive action climax in a superhero movie yet.

On the BBC website, critic Neil Armstrong also awarded Fallout four stars, for its vivid and brutal action, its production design, its surreal humour, and its main characters. While Armstrong labelled the plot “meandering”, he was still enamoured by the journey, and by the tone of the series. Given the difficult nature of adapting video games, and the rocky history of existing adaptations, there was plenty of doubt ahead of Fallout‘s release – but by all accounts, it appears the show’s writers and directors have pulled it off. Amid the never-ending conversation around superhero fatigue, too many spoilers, and not enough effective storytelling, it feels rare to be truly surprised by a new superhero adaptation. Deadpool & Wolverine is such a pleasant surprise — both in its jaw-dropping elements and in the sentimental reason for those elements even existing — that it almost feels like a miracle.
[The] show’s sublime fourth season, which premieres with a double dip of fresh episodes on Thursday, proves beyond any doubt that “Hacks” is a series with legs. And not just because Deborah, the Joan Rivers-coded diva character who fits Smart like a canary yellow Bill Blass dress, orders a carpenter to saw away part of her desk so her gams will read on-camera. So, those are a sampling of reviews that, hopefully, give you a better idea of what to expect from Andor. Critics appear to appreciate the character-driven story and less reliance on visual effects and familiar faces. At the same time, though, it sounds like the series is slow and not necessarily a tale that needs to be told over such a long period. The Hollywood Reporter’s Daniel Fienberg also praises the series for delivering beyond its conceit.
A Cartoon Network Classic Is Returning to TV After 20 Years (But There’s a Catch)
It’s always hard to say this soon into the embargo lifting but they do appear largely mixed. Many critics adored this live-action remake, while others were none-too-impressed with the long-delayed feature from filmmaker Marc Webb. She covers movies and TV with a focus on fantasy and science fiction, adaptations, animation, and more nerdy goodness. The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth installment in the Matrix series, is here, and critics are divided. Many find it better than the sequels to the original, but others argue that it was completely unnecessary.
Before joining the team, he was a Staff Writer at What To Watch where he wrote about a broad range of shows that stretched from “Doctor Who” and “The Witcher” to “Bridgerton” and “Love Island”. When he’s not watching the next must-see movie or show, he’s probably still in front of a screen playing massive RPGs, reading, spending a fortune on TCGs, or watching the NFL. @ChronoTimeEgg While I do like what I see of Ragebound (I’m a 2D-action fan, but haven’t played the original Ninja Gaiden games), you have a point, here.

“Sure, the production process behind Adolescence is impressive — if not ‘unique’ — and occasionally astonishing, but if the aesthetic had upstaged the narrative, the resulting series would have amounted to little more than a stunt,” he says. “Fortunately, the camerawork mostly complements both a plot with unsettling contemporary resonance and the human characters, played exceptionally well.” Robert Lloyd, writing for the Los Angeles Times, agrees that the one-shot approach runs the risk of being too self-conscious, but echoes its impact. “Long, uninterrupted scenes also allow a superb cast to dive into character and the moment, a luxury piecemeal film production doesn’t afford,” he says.

The Hollywood Reporter also made a note of the programme’s level of ambition for this run of episodes – but also remarked that it misses out on some charm and humour as a result. The show picks up around a year after the action of season three left, following the stories of teens Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), along with their friends and family. Stranger Things season four has been met with acclaim from critics, with some hailing it as the best one yet. The War of the Rohirrim will go head-to-head with Kraven the Hunter this anime quiz weekend, though both movies aren’t expected to fare particularly well against holdovers Wicked and Moana 2.
In a positive, non-scored review for Variety, critic Aramide Tinubu described Fallout as an “ultra-violent” and “twistedly fun” adaptation with a massive scope and a strong journey for its main protagonists. Tinubu was also impressed by the visuals of the series, and felt its bizarre nature helped to paper over many of its narrative stalling points. The show currently has a 96% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is actually higher than all three Peter Jackson movies. Reviews have been mostly positive save for one or two negative reviews that call the show’s boldness a misstep. Some mixed reviews praise the show’s high-budget visuals but feel that they overpower the plot. While social media reactions were positive (they usually are, regardless of a movie’s quality), it’s the reviews that count.
“At times, this can become a little theatrical… but more often it supports rather than subverts the reality.” For a series inspired by real-world events, “the sort of material that might invite sensationalism or prompt a heavy-handed lecture, Adolescence avoids both.” “Overall, the show combines individually strong elements that are executed to a high standard, creating a very worthy foundation for the DCU,” adds Screen Rant. “Creature Commandos feels exciting, introducing brand-new characters with a side of incredible humor and wit.” Martin is a Streaming Writer at Tom’s Guide, covering all things movies and TV. If it’s in the theaters or available to stream somewhere, he’s probably watched it… especially if it has a dragon in it.
Two of its shows wrapped up their seasons (The White Lotus, The Pitt), and another two have kicked off their new seasons (Hacks, The Last of Us). Awards Magnet hosts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to discuss all four and their Emmy potential. You can read our full review here but we concluded by saying, “Delightfully deranged, Creature Commandos is a crazy, captivating, instant classic that puts the new DCU on the map while offering fans an endless list of reasons to return each week. James Gunn has delivered a monstrous must-see.” Critics are full of praise for Creature Commandos after seeing the entire seven-episode season, and we should have a Rotten Tomatoes score to share with you very soon. The first reviews for Creature Commandos have hit today and, well, DC Studios and James Gunn have delivered what sounds like a pitch-perfect opening chapter for the new DCU.
Gotham City drips in blood, corruption, and treachery as a tortured vigilante hunts a serial killer with a diabolical agenda. All of the performances have the big challenge of selling these iconic characters. Pattinson is a convincing Batman, who infuses his own signature style and voice. The two actors don’t have much chemistry, but The Batman doesn’t lean into their relationship as a crutch. Meanwhile, Dano is just the right amount of unhinged to make this version of The Riddler sing.
Good luck to anybody trying to surpass this one, because the mold’s been broken. Writing for IGN, critic Matt Purslow called Fallout an “all-time great” with particular reverence for its black comedy tone, excellent writing, and its production design. Purslow was very impressed by the show’s sets and visual look, including elements like the Brotherhood of Steel.
